Frank Sharipov Wins in GA

Friday, June 12th, 2009

July 12 2009 Frank Sharipov took on a very talented Alex Caceres aka Bruce Leeroy in Dana Pitchers Georgia based event. Frank dominated with great takedowns untill he was caught in a triangle late in the first round and nearly lost his momentum. He came back strong in the second round after his close call in the first and went on to finish Alex with a textbook armbar 3 minutes into the third round. Special thanks to 47Clothing for all of their support in Franks rise to the top of the 135 division.

Bad Judgement in Georgia

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

We are proud to announce Frank Sharipov as the victor in this weekend’s matchup against Diego Saraiva at Wild Bill’s Fight Night.  Unfortunately, the judges were apparently watching a different event when they decided who would take home the official win in this matchup.  Frank clearly dominated each and every round in the main event fight-landing more strikes, completing more takedowns, constantly pushing the pace of the fight and maintaining control of the ring, but losing this bout to hometown favoritism.

All in attendance were surprised at the outcome, but in Georgia, where the MMA appeals process is non-existent, no amount of protest could reverse the decision.  This may be a loss on paper, but Sharipov continues to prove that he can take on bigger guys, better records, and every challenge he is faced with.  While UFC Veteran Saraiva fought a good battle, this was clearly a case of bad judging, and we will look for a rematch in another state in the future.

This was another successful promotion put on by Wild Bill’s in Atlanta, with several great fights throughout the night, including Georgia’s first female Pro MMA fight between Lizzy Miller and Tanya Reyes.  We will be posting pics and video soon.  Special thanks to Forty Seven Clothing and Throwin’ Knuckles for continuing to support Frank in his Mixed Martial Arts career and to Wild Bill’s for the opportunity and for always putting on a good show.

Battle in Baton Rouge

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

Frank Sharipov is now 7-2 after his defeat of Joey Marimberga in Louisiana Fighting Championship 3 Vendetta, hosted at the Baton Rouge River Center.  Once again taking the match to a three round decision, Sharipov was able to escape Marimberga’s submission attempts to get the victory.  This was a last minute matchup for Sharipov, and one more fight to prove that Sharipov is always ready for the next challenege.

Victory at Robarts!

Saturday, January 24th, 2009

Frank Sharipov improved his record to an impressive 6-2 on Saturday in his most dominant performance to date. Typically reliant on his strength as a wrestler and his evolving skills on the ground, Sharipov brought a whole new game plan to the cage against ATT black belt Reynaldo Duarte, keeping the fight off the ground, delivering well executed and effective striking, and giving people yet another reason to continue to follow him on his quest for a featherweight title.

Jamie Yager of BET’s Iron Ring debuted at the event and won in a questionable stoppage in the first round due to a cut near Eric Haritakis’s eye. Yager’s boastful speech regarding his “victory” following the fight was enough to anger everyone within 10 miles of the arena, bringing the crowd to its feet in hostility, and likely not gaining the new fighter any fans. Yager probably should have left the PR skills he learned from his coach on the show, rapper TI, back in the Iron Ring.

We look forward to the next Art of Fighting and hopefully a Paragon Fighter will get the chance to hand him his first loss and shut him up.

Art of Fighting’s Rumble at Robarts will be featured on Inside MMA on Friday February 6 on HDNet.

Special thanks to our sponsors K-Rock Hard Nutrition, Projekt Label Fightwear and Fourty 7 Clothing.

Frank Sharipov Ready for a Title?

Saturday, December 13th, 2008

XFC brought yet another 10 thousand plus people into the St Pete Times Forum for a night of fast paced MMA action. The most notable fight of the night was very clearly the match up between Justin Goodall and Haender Rodriguez for the 135 belt. It was an all out slug fest for nearly 3 straight rounds. Haender hit Jason about as hard as any 135 pound man can hit yet he still didn’t go down. With every hit it looked like it may end but Goodall never stopped coming and near the end of the third round knocked Haender down ending the fight with a TKO.

Franks team feels like this puts Sharipov in the running for a title fight with the now 5-0 Jason Goodall. After all, he did just defeat the very talented Haender Rodriguez (one of the most respectful fighters in the game) a month prior to Haender’s fight with Goodall. Some would say Justin Goodall is the best 135er in the Southeast, but Sharipov deserves a chance to prove them wrong. Fight Frank Justin!

Special thanks to 24 Seven Mag for the picture. Great work guys!
